Help / FAQ
Video tools FAQ.
Clear answers before you start: local browser processing, no account, supported formats and practical limits.
Files, privacy and browser support
Do I need an account?
No. Framekit does not provide accounts, subscriptions, or cloud media storage. Choose a video tool to begin.
What are the video file size limits?
Each input may be up to 250.0 MB. A merge selection may total up to 500.0 MB. Files are checked before processing. Available browser memory can still prevent a smaller file from completing.
Are selected videos uploaded?
No. Video processing runs locally. The static site host may process ordinary access logs for page and engine requests; see the privacy policy.
Why did my processing fail?
Some files use codecs the browser engine cannot decode, may be damaged, or may exceed available memory. Try a shorter clip, a lower output resolution, or a smaller source file. Browser preview and engine codec support are different; not all formats work on every device.
Trim video questions
Will trimming change the clip?
The selected range is re-encoded for accurate cut points. Picture and audio are processed locally in your browser.
Can I choose a very short range?
Yes. The end time must be later than the start time. Very short exports can still take a moment to encode.
Compress video questions
How much smaller will my file be?
It depends on the original footage, settings, and motion. Framekit shows the actual result after processing instead of promising a fixed ratio.
Which preset should I use?
Start with Medium for a balanced result. Low retains more detail; High targets a smaller file and may reduce detail.
Merge videos questions
Can I merge videos of different sizes?
Yes. The processor standardizes compatible clips before joining them. This can take longer than joining matching source files.
Why is the order important?
The result follows the exact list order shown. Use the move controls before starting the merge.
Convert video questions
Can I upload MOV, MKV, or AVI?
You can try compatible source files. Browser preview may not work for every container, but the local processing engine will probe the file before conversion.
Does this just rename the file?
No. Framekit re-encodes the file. If the chosen output cannot be encoded, it reports an error instead of supplying a renamed, broken file.
Video to audio questions
What happens if the video has no sound?
The engine will stop and explain that no usable audio track was found. No empty download is created.
Should I choose MP3 or WAV?
MP3 is usually smaller and convenient for sharing. WAV is uncompressed and often larger.
Remove audio questions
Does this shorten my video?
No. Removing audio retains the processed video duration; only the audio track is removed.
Can I restore the audio afterward?
Keep your original file. The result is a new muted file and does not change the original on your device.
