A practical guide
Remove the audio track, not the video
Create a silent version of a recording for a presentation, an ambient background or a separate editing workflow. Framekit creates a new file without an audio stream; it does more than lower the player volume. Keep the original if you may want the sound later.
How to remove audio from a video online
- Choose one source video. Use the Before player to review the original picture and sound when your browser supports the source.
- Select Remove audio. The local processor encodes the video without copying or generating an audio track.
- Review the After result and download the muted MP4. Check playback and duration before using it in another project.
Output format and quality
The result contains H.264 video in an MP4 container and no audio track. The visual duration is retained, but re-encoding can affect picture quality and size. Audio cannot be restored from this new file; use the original recording for that.
File size and browser limits
Each input is limited to 250.0 MB. Size is checked before processing starts. These limits do not guarantee that every smaller file will fit your device’s available memory.
Long or high-resolution footage can need significant time and memory. Use shorter clips or smaller inputs if the browser cannot finish. The source stays on your device; processing loads the local engine only when needed. Read the format and processing FAQ and privacy policy for the limits and temporary data handling.
