Trim video: key facts

Framekit cuts a compatible video between your chosen start and end times, then creates a new MP4 clip locally in the browser. It re-encodes the selection rather than changing the original file.

A practical guide

Cut a video without uploading the source

Use the online video trimmer to remove an unwanted introduction or ending, or save a shorter section of a recording. You choose start and end times in seconds; Framekit creates a new clip and leaves the original file unchanged.

How to trim a video online

  1. Choose a compatible video or drop it onto the source area. Review its duration and preview. If the browser cannot read the duration, use Check duration locally before setting the range.
  2. Set the start and end using the time fields or range handles. The end must be later than the start and within the source duration. Use Preview range when the source can play in your browser.
  3. Select Trim this video. Wait for the local encoding and output check, then preview and download the MP4 result. Reset releases the temporary result from the page.

Output format and quality

The selected range is re-encoded as H.264 video with AAC audio when a source audio track is present. Re-encoding allows accurate cuts, but can change quality and file size; this is not a lossless stream-copy tool.

File size and browser limits

Each input is limited to 250.0 MB. Size is checked before processing starts. These limits do not guarantee that every smaller file will fit your device’s available memory.

Long or high-resolution footage can need significant time and memory. Use shorter clips or smaller inputs if the browser cannot finish. The source stays on your device; processing loads the local engine only when needed. Read the format and processing FAQ and privacy policy for the limits and temporary data handling.
